I have loved all things 'art' for as long as I can remember.  My curiosity about art and art history began early in elementary school as I felt such power and pride in bringing something into existence. I studied Fine Art and Art History at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario completing my BA (Hons) and B.Ed. I taught Visual Art, English and Indigenous Studies for 31 years. My students have taught me many things and have been instrumental in my development as an artist. Now that I am retired, I feel excited to dedicate my time to bring my visions and dreamscapes to life on canvas.

I am a painter in oil, as I was trained in oil. I also am developing in my acrylic skills and love to implement mixed media especially in my prepping and sketching of ideas and compositions. My style is developing as well, as a student of art history, I am drawn to understanding a variety of artistic styles,  palettes and techniques. Some of my favourite artists are Redon,  van Gogh, Chagall, Kahlo and more contemporary artists in magical realism. I currently love Dominique Fortin's dream like images. I am a collector of art as well and have a very eclectic, wide ranging tastes in art, everything from quilts, vintage paint by numbers, naive art, Indigenous sculpture to fine historical oil paintings.

I am a student of many things but my passion is in understanding human behaviour, in particular, in the realm of social justice. I often want to tackle issues pertaining to the female condition and how women are treated,  perceived and celebrated in many cultures.  An artist, I believe, has a social responsibility to speak truth to power whenever they can. Beautiful images can seduce the eye to look longer and confront difficult issues.
